5 Cattle Rustlers Arrested In Kaduna, 4 Cows Recovered

At least five suspected cattle rustlers have been arrested by operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command State and four cows were recovered.

This was confirmed on Mondy by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, who said the suspects where arrested in Tafa town in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.

“On Dec.30, 2023, at about 1830hrs acting on credible information, our operatives and Civilian Joint Task Force(JTF), arrested a suspect, aged 20 and brought him to the police station,” he said.

The PPRO said the suspect was in possession of four suspected stolen cows loaded in a vehicle.

He added that after investigation, the principal suspect confessed that the cows were entrusted to him to rear by the Manager of a Farm in Sabon Wuse town.

“The principal suspect said they conspired with the other four suspects to sell the stolen cows,” he said.

Hassan said the suspects are all in police custody for further investigation and would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

He said that the cows have been handed over to their owner.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly stealing 19 school beds and four mattress in Malam Madori Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Dutse on Monday.

According to him, the suspects were arrested on Dec. 27 after the police received information about the activities of the suspects from Government Unity Senior Secondary School (GUSSS), Malam Madori.

He identified the suspects as Muhammad Nadabo, aged 40, and Auwalu Muhammad, 24.

The PPRO added that the suspects, all residents of Malam Madori town, criminally conspired, trespassed into the school at about 1.30 am and stole 19 students’ metal beds and four mattresses.

He added that the stolen items were recovered from suspects during their arrest.

Shiisu said the operatives also arrested two suspects in Babura LGA for alleged trespass and theft of millet worth N16,000 and 44,000 cash.

He explained that the suspects, identified as Abdullahi Mujitafa, aged 19 and resident of Kofar Gaba, and a minor (name withheld), were arrested with some part of the millet and the sum of N500 only in their possession.

The PPRO added that when interrogated, the suspects mentioned Habiba Haladu, aged 55, of Kofar Arewa Babura as their regular receiver of stolen items.

According to him, efforts are being intensified to arrest the alleged receiver, while all the suspects have since been arraigned in court.
