96 phone snatchers, drug dealers, others arrested in Kano

About Ninety-six suspects involved in phone snatching, drug dealers, and armed robbery were on Wednesday arrested by the Kano State Police Command.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that, the command arrested 52 suspects in connection with phone snatching and 38 others for kidnapping, armed robbery and theft of motor vehicles while six were arrested for drug-related offences.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel stated this while parading the suspects before newsmen at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano State.

According to him, “So far, a total of Ninety-Six (96) suspects were arrested for offences ranging from drugs and substance abuse that formed the motivating factor for violent crimes in the State such as mobile phone robbery, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft of motor vehicles, etc.

“As this police command is committed to the restoration of the internal security order of the State, we shall continue to work with the required sacrifices and diligent commitments alongside the synergy with relevant stakeholders to resolutely pursue the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police,” CP Gumel said.

The Police Commissioner, however, appealed to residents to continue to be law-abiding and security conscious.

In a related development, the Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected gun runner, five suspected armed robbers and cultists.

The command also recovered one fabricated Berretta pistol, one pump action gun, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen live cartridges

Confirming the arrest, DSP Bright Edafe the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, said
the early hours of 22nd May 2023, at about 3 am, the DPO Oghara Division, SP Suleiman Yahaya Doma acting on intelligence received led a combined team of policemen from the division and the State Investigation Bureau (SIB) to a criminal hideout in Otefe community Oghara, Ethiope West LGA.

During the operation, two suspects identified as Edafe Ajari aged 29 and Wallis Louis aged 24 both of Otefe Community Oghara were arrested.
One (1) pump action gun, two (2) double barrel cut-to-size, one (1) battle axe and three (3) live cartridges were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
