Some Nigerian Army personnel have reportedly killed one person and injured another during a sporadic shootout in Apata, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
An eyewitness said that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, saying that they only saw soldiers’ vehicles pass through Brent, and all they heard were gunshots.
“Everyone ran for their lives; some lay on the floor to prevent stray bullets,” an eyewitness told Nigerian Tribune.
The eyewitness whose identity was not disclosed further revealed that the young man identified as Samuel, who is a commercial motorcyclist, was killed by the stray bullet and he died instantly.

The second victim who was female was injured and she was presently receiving treatment at Lafia Hospital in the NNPC area of the state.
However, the reason for the shooting was yet to be known as the police or any relevant authorities had yet to release an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
There were protests in some parts of Ibadan over the persisting scarcity of the new naira notes.
