Family Seeks Justice Murdered 22-Year-Old Lady

Family members of a 22-year-old lady, Kabirat Sobola, who was found dead in her room with knife cuts on her neck and other parts of her body, have called on the Police to ensure that justice is served and the killers of their daughter brought to book.

The deceased was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Akeem Kabiru.

Following his alleged involvement in the murder of late Kabirat, 26-year-old Kabiru, was arrested by the police.

Speaking on behalf of the family in Abeokuta, the deceased’s uncle, Kehinde Sobola told newsmen that the police had released three other accomplices in the murder.

Kehinde, who is a twin brother of the deceased’s father, said he was part of the team that discovered the corpse of the girl in her room.

According to him, Kabiru, who is presently remanded in a custodial centre, did not perpetrate the act alone, stating that two of Kabirat’s friends were suspected to be involved in the killing.

Speaking further, the deceased’s uncle lamented that the police is yet to apprehend a herbalist and a cleric, whom the prime suspect reportedly sent the picture of the deceased to.

According to him, the prime suspect confessed to sending the deceased’s picture to the duo during interrogation at the police station.

“We want the government to intervene and ensure that justice is served and necessary investigations are done. Those responsible for Kabirat’s death must be brought to justice,” he added.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, allayed the fear of the family, adding that the matter had been taken over by the homicide department of the police.

He also warned the family against accusing innocent persons.

He said, “We have not released any suspect. The suspect is in a custodial centre. The matter is a murder case. It is a serious one. We cannot just arrest anyone, because it will take a long time for an innocent person to prove himself.”
