Delta Youth Leader Killed By Suspected Cultists

Chief Sylvester Eferhobo, a youth leader in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, was killed on Sunday night by suspected cultists.

According to a source, the incident has caused violence in the community.

The source said the assailants, before killing the late youth leader, called him out of his house.

The source continued that, “Immediately he came out, his killers who were fully armed, shot at him several times, but the bullets could not penetrate him.

“The assailants dragged him to a nearby bush where they axed him to death.”

Chief Efethobo was said to be a strong member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before his gruesome murder.

Recently, HRM Ajuwe Samson Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom conferred a Chieftaincy title on him.

Residents linked his death to cult-related issues.

As of the time of filing this report, most shops within and outside the Agbarho market have been shut down for fear of being attacked by hoodlums.

In another news, the Police, on Wednesday, arraigned a 28-year-old man, Azeez Olaoye, before an Ota Magistrates Court in Ogun, for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace

The Police charged Olaoye, whose address was not provided, with breach of peace, threat to life and malicious damage.

The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 2 at about 6.30 p.m. at Ilogno area, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by chasing the complainant, Muideen Azeez, with a stone.

He added that Olaoye threatened the complainant by saying he would kill him.

The prosecutor said that the defendant also damaged three sliding windows valued at N70,000.

Adaraloye said that the offences contravened Sections 86,249(d) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, admitted the defendant to N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until June 22 for further hearing.
