A Car Theft Syndicate has been smashed by a team of detectives from the Police Zonal Intelligence Department (ZID) Zone 10 Sokoto.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the operatives also recovered 4 vehicles of different brands during the operation.
Confirming the development, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ahmad Rufa’i said the operation happened with the support of the citizens in the States of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara under the watchful eyes of AIG Abubakar Lawal Daura.
According to him, the syndicate specialised in car theft of various models within these states and disposed same within neighbouring countries.
Credible intelligence from members of the public led the Crack Team within the zonal Command to smash the criminals hide out in an uncompleted building in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State where Muttaka Muhammad 29 years of Zauro town was arrested.
29-year-old Muttaka Muhammad’s revelation during interrogation by the Zonal Command led to the recovery of four vehicles in Kebbi State and Sokoto respectively which led to the arrest of two other members of the gang in Kebbi and Sokoto namely Kasimu Muhammad 33 years of Dukki area Bunza LGA and Haliru Musa 35 years Of Baiti Area all in Kebbi State.”
“Suspects will be charge to court as soon as the Investigation is completed, says the statement.
“The Particulars of the recovered vehicles are Toyota Corolla LE, Ash in Colour with Chassis No. WVBR82F94Z649, a Toyota Corolla Fish eye, Blue in colour, with Chassis No.JT15EEB103103294, and a Toyota Corolla Fish eye Blue in colour with Chassis No. JT152EEB103134442.
Meanwhile, the general public is therefore advice to inform relations or friends who lost their vehicles to come with Proof of ownership for confirmation and claim at Zone 10 AIG Office.
The AIG called on members of the public to be vigilant and security conscious in their domains, and continue to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies” adding that security is everybody’s business.
