A 24-year-old suspect, Damilola Oladele, is currently being investigated by the Osun Police Command for breaking into ten shops.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that Oladele confessed to only stealing from shops and not houses.
The suspect paraded along others at Osun Police command headquarters during the weekend and said he kept some of his stolen goods in the room of one of his neighbours, who has travelled.
He added that he burgled the ten shops within the area he lived in Agunbeelewo area of the state capital within four days carting away goods worth N3 million.
Items recovered from the suspect include; two black standing fans, two 25-litre kegs of groundnut oil, 25kg of rice, three generating sets, two gas cookers, 12kg, 6kg and 3kg gas cylinders among others.
Police spokesperson in the state, Yemisi Opalola revealed that the suspect was arrested by the men of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, on November 13, 2023, with a big bag containing food items, utensils and other materials and could not explain how he got it, hence, was handed over to the police.
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect has on different dates, burgled about 10 shops at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo and carted away some items valued at N3million”, she said.
Earlier, the New Police Commissioner in the state, Isyaku Muhammed had assured residents of the state to make it a haven of peace for residents, saying he would not condone any type of criminality across the state.
