A 65-year-old man has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly impersonating an army officer and defrauding a man of N120,000 at Ipaja area of the state.
The suspect, who identified as Jeremiah Joseph, was apprehended by the state Police Command.
Disclosing the arrest of the alleged fraudster in a statement posted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect had perpetrated several heinous acts within the state under the guise of being an Army Lieutenant.
He, however, said luck ran out of him when he absconded with N120,000 belonging to a certain Ignatius.
The suspect, who had a fake Army identity card and uniform, duped a man and ran away.

“The suspect presented himself as an Army Lieutenant to one Ignatius.
“The fake Lieutenant promised to arrange soldiers to help Ignatius recover N4.5m owed him by some people in Delta State.
“He received N120,000 for this service and thereafter absconded.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Islamic police, Hisbah, on Tuesday seized three vehicles loaded with over 18,000 bottles of beer at Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.
Hisbah Commander-General, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina, who made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen, explained that the trucks containing the beer were intercepted on Monday at Gwarzo road on their way to Kano.
According to him, the law establishing Kano Board Hisbah prohibits the sale and consumption of any intoxicants in any part of the state.
He said, “The board has more than ten trucks loaded with beer in its custody and would follow due process to secure a court order for the destruction of the beers. Also, the agency had intensified campaigns and advocacy visit to enlighten the public about the dangers of engaging in immoral activities.”
