A nursing mother, Mrs Chinyere Ifesinachi, has been arrested by the Anambra State Government for allegedly brutalising her house help, identified simply as Idinmachukwu in the Nnewi area of the state.
The development was made known by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, through her media aide, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu.
The 8-year-old house help was said to be the daughter of the suspect’s sister, who was given to her in March this year, to assist her in taking care of her twins after she complained that she could not cope with house chores since putting them to bed.
Obinabo noted that Idinmachukwu was seen within the week on an errand for her madam, while carrying swollen eyes, with scars all over her body, raising suspicion in the area.
Following the suspicion of battering, a good samaritan in the area approached the victim, made a video to demand justice for her.

In the video, the house help stated that Ifesinachi banned her from attending a school for formal education, and has been subjected to inhuman treatment for every action of hers.
On how she got the bruises all over her body, Idinmachukwu stated that she was brutalised by her madam for mistakenly dropping one of her madam’s twins, who she was taking care of.
The suspect was said to have blamed the devil for her actions, upon her arrest.
The 25-year-old mother of two was said to have begged that if freed, she would never engage in such behavior.
Ikeanyionwu quoted commissioner Obinabo as saying that the woman has been handed over to the police for investigation, and that she will be charged to court afterwards.
The commissioner also vowed that the suspect will not escape the law, while warning others who act similarly to desist or face the wrath of the law.
