Bauchi Police Arrest Two Connected To Okada Rider’s Death

The Bauchi State Police Command has taken two suspects into custody for allegedly killing an okada rider, identified as Muhammad Tukur.

Tukur, a resident of Kangere in Bauchi Local Government Area of the state, was earlier declared missing by the police.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed in a statement he signed on Friday that one Hashimu Adamu, 22, and Anas Muhammed, 23 were apprehended by men of the command in connection to the okada rider’s death.

Wakil, who stated that Tukur’s disappearance was reported to the police by his elder brother, disclosed that the two suspects in custody were alleged to have engaged the deceased to convey them to Badaqoshi village in Alkaleri LGA.

He continued that on their way, they allegedly stabbed their victim in the stomach and made away with his Bajaj motorcycle.

The statement read, “On 09/04/2023, at about 4 pm information was received from Maina-Maji Divisional Headquarters that a decomposed male corpse was sighted at Shinge village forest in Alkaleri LGA, which was later identified to be the missing person.

“During our investigation, it was revealed that one Hashimu Adamu of Badaqoshi village Alkaleri LGA, and Anas Muhammed of Kangere Ward, Bauchi, were the last passengers sighted with the okada rider heading to Badaqoshi village.”

The police spokesman further alleged that following their arrest, the suspects confessed that they conspired and lured the deceased to convey them to Badaqoshi village, only for them to kill him and made away with his motorcycle.

Wakil, who further disclosed that a red Bajaj motorcycle was recovered from the suspects, said they will be charged in court as soon as detectives conclude their investigation.
