Chadian Woman Remanded By Lagos Court For Killing Pregnant Co-Wife

Magistrate P. E Nwaka of the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, has remanded a 42-year-old woman, Fatima Rahman, for allegedly killing her co-wife, Adizat, at her residence in Alejo Street, Ijede, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

NIGERIACRIME learnt that the defendant, who is from Chad Republic, was remanded to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre on Tuesday on a one count of murder.

Out of jealousy that her husband married another wife, the defendant allegedly visited the pregnant woman in her residence under the guise of being a nurse and stabbed her to death.

When she left, the corpse of the pregnant woman was found in her home with wounds on her neck and head.

However, the culprit was identified and indicted by a  neighbour of the deceased who saw her when she arrived at the residence.

The court rejected the defendant’s plea.

The prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant to a custodial centre pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Granting the request, Nwaka remanded her to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre pending legal advice.

Nwaka also adjourned the case till May 25, 2023, for trial.
