A middle-aged woman Joy Thomas has been killed in a building collapse while another mother and her son sustained injuries on Sunday evening at Lade village of Patigi local government area of Kwara State.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the incident, happened around 10 pm when the deceased and other victims were deep asleep in their veranda.
A neighbour of the deceased, Joshua Seth, said that the incident had thrown the community and families into mourn.
According to Joshua, “The deceased, Joy and other victims were sleeping and others relaxing outside the veranda due to heat in the community when the building collapsed on them.
However, before they could be rescued, Joy Thomas died.
“The remains of the young lady was buried in the early hours of Monday.
He added that rubbles also injured a mother and her son, stressing that the unfortunate incident happened at 10 pm on Sunday.
“The other victims who were severely injured were helped and rushed to a nearby hospital in the community for medical treatments”, he stressed
According to multiple sources, the deceased was earlier in church on Sunday to mark the celebration of Easter with other church members and friends.
However, mourners and sympathisers were seen, expressing their condolences to the deceased’s family over the sad incident.
When contacted, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC Spokesman, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, claimed that he will find out and get back.
He was however yet to do so before the filing of this report.
