Doctor In Court For Allegedly Sedating, Raping Patient In Kwara

A medical doctor, Dr Ayodele Joseph, has been dragged before a Magistrate Court in Ilorin, the Kwara capital, on Thursday, for allegedly raping his patient.

The doctor, who is the Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital in Ilorin, was remanded by the crime over the allegations.

It was learnt that the CMD sedated the lady, who was confirmed to be a professional nurse, and had sexual intercourse with her without her permission.

She told the court that Ayodele, with 27 years medical experience, took advantage of her under sedation.

The police, during investigation, recovered a video containing sexual acts on the patient; medical tests also confirmed she was sexually assaulted.

The suspect was arraigned on two counts of act of gross indecency and rape.

Prosecution counsel, Gbenga Ayeni informed the court of the gravity of the offence and requested his remand via a motion attached to the police report.

Ayeni said the act is contrary to sections 285 and 283 of the penal code.

Magistrate Gbadeyan Jumoke Kamson granted the prosecutor’s prayer for Ayodele’s remand and adjourned the matter until May 18.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Eagle-Net on routine patrol along Orerokpe-Sapele road have arrested a twenty-five-year-old suspected cultist, kidnapper and armed robber, Diarhe Oghenemarho who has been terrorising Warri and Ughelli axis.

The Police also recovered from the suspect a locally made single barrel gun with (05) live cartridges concealed in a bag found in his possession.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

The Police image maker said the Operatives intercepted a commercial minibus for a routine search.

“During the search, they recovered a locally made single barrel gun with five (05) live cartridges concealed in the bag found in possession of one Diarhe Oghenemarho ‘m’ aged 25yrs of Okpara inland waterway community, Ethiope East LGA.”

DSP Edafe, “The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he belongs to the notorious Eiye confraternity cult group and that his syndicate has been terrorizing Warri and Ughelli axis.

“He also confessed to being a member of an armed robbery/kidnapping gang, and his gang leader is one David Oghotomo Mathew a.k.a “cucumber”.

DSP Edafe also said, “The suspect and exhibits are in custody while investigation is ongoing.”
