The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested a former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman for alleged diversion of N22 billion.
Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the former minister is being detained at the headquarters of the Commission following his arrest in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to sources at EFCC, the arrest is in connection with the Commission’s ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the execution of some power projects.
It was gathered that Mamman is alleged to have conspired with a staff of the Ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects and diverted N22 billion, which they shared amongst themselves.
According to sources close to the investigations, some properties alleged to have been acquired with the proceeds have been uncovered in Nigeria and overseas linked to the suspects, while millions of Naira and United States Dollars have been recovered.
The Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached for comments on the latest development.
In a related development, the Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital, Dr Ayodele Joseph has been remanded by a Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin for allegedly raping his patient who came for medical treatment in his hospital at Sawmill Area, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Police report during a court proceeding on Wednesday revealed that the defendant, (Dr Ayodele), sedated the patient, who is a professional nurse and eventually had sexual intercourse with her outside her consent.
According to the report, the nurse went to the hospital for medical treatment when the doctor, who claimed to be having twenty-seven years of experience in the medical field, took advantage of her under sedation.
Investigation into the matter however led to the recovery of the video recording containing sexual action of the defendant on the victim while medical text also confirmed that the said nurse was assaulted and raped.
The government prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, informed the court of the gravity of the offence and the motion exparte attached to the police report seeking the remand of Doctor Ayodele in Correctional centre.
Magistrate Jumoke Kamson, who handled the case granted Ayeni’s prayer for remand while the matter was adjourned to the 18th of this month.
