There was tension in Isapa, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State as the farm of a former Senator representing Kwara South, Simeon Ajibola, was invaded by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The gunmen, during the attack, killed the farm’s supervisor and relative of the legislator identified as Biodun Ajibola.
According to reports, the gunmen were trying to kidnap the deceased but killed him when he resisted all attempts.
NIGERIACRIME gathered that the farm was attacked around 8 am.
Confirming this, a family source the kidnappers who had wanted to whisk away the farm supervisor’s driver, Segun Adeleye, fled when they sighted some motorcyclists coming in their direction.
The source said, “Thank God that Senator Simeon Ajibola was not around. Perhaps they intended to take him away. But the supervisor in charge of the farm was not lucky as he was killed when the kidnappers invaded the farm,” he said.
“Senator Ajibola’s driver attached to the late supervisor was wounded and he is currently in the hospital in Ilorin.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our correspondent.

He said policemen were on the trail of the hoodlums.
Meanwhile, a Magistrate Court sitting in Ikere-Ekiti has sentenced 23-year-old Emmanuel Ekundayo, to one year in prison for stealing mobile phones belonging to some students of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).
Ekundayo, who claimed to be a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, was arraigned before Magistrate Dotun Omoteye on one count charge of stealing.
The culprit was apprehended on July 17, 2023, during one of the 2022/2023 first semester examinations at the Library Lecture Theatre while ransacking the bags of students doing examinations.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted by the Magistrate on the strength of the evidence before him, though with an option of fine.
Speaking after the judgement, the Acting Director of Legal Matters in the University, Barr. Busuyi Jayeoba, stated that the development would serve as a deterrent to others of his ilk and emphasised the University’s zero tolerance for all forms of criminality within its precincts.
