Four Stowaways Aboard Dubai Vessel Nabbed

An 18-year-old boy and three other stowaways onboard a container vessel, TEME EXPRESS, heading to Dubai, United Arab Emirates have been nabbed by the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT.

The Base Information Officer for NNS BEECROFT, H. A. Collins stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

The stowaways were identified as Michael Daniel, 18, from Ondo State; Ebi Agrive, 22 from Bayelsa State; Lucky Amusu, 23, from Lagos State; and Goodness Edu, 28, from Akwa Ibom State.

Also, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga stated that the arrest was made on November 13 based on intelligence obtained from the Maritime Domain Awareness Facility.

The statement read in part, “The NNS BEECROFT patrol team, while on a routine patrol, successfully extracted and apprehended some individuals on Monday, November 13, onboard a container vessel TEME EXPRESS, which was en route to Dubai.

“The tactical teams were dispatched to the vessel at the Lagos Anchorage, the sequel to receiving information from the Maritime Domain Awareness Facility, the Falcon Eye Alignment.”

In another news, operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have successfully traced and recovered three cows suspected to be stolen from the residence of a suspected cattle rustler, Muktari Ibrahim.

DSP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the command’s Public Relations Officer, made it known in a statement.

According to him, on November 13, 2023, at approximately 8:00 am, Umar Musa, 20 and Idris Ismail, 30 from Malamawa village, Kiyawa LGA, reported to the Kiyawa Divisional Police Headquarters that unknown thieves had conspired and trespassed into their houses at around 3:00 am the same day, stealing three cows valued at N1,150,000.00.

He explained, “During questioning, Muktari Ibrahim revealed that he had received the stolen cows from one Yusuf, who is still at large.”

The PPRO explained that the police authorities were actively intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, saying that the recovered cows had since been released on bond to their rightful owners.

He assured that the suspects would be charged to court to face the full consequences of their actions.
