Operatives attached to the Edo Police Command, on Sunday, 20 November 2022, arrested four suspected armed-robbers for unlawful possession of firearm.
The suspects identified as Umar Sanusi, aged 28, Saviour Sunday, aged 23, Edeh Samuel, aged 18 and Ede Monday aged 23, all reside at Back of Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that a cut-to-size locally made pistol with breech/NO CAL-45ACP, ten (10) assorted Android phones and a Motorcycle with Reg.No GDE222-VC were recovered from them.
Confirming the arrest, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Police Command, said the arrest was made possible following a well-laid ambush by the Divisional Police Officer, Agbede and his men alongside the local Vigilante which resulted in the arrest of the first suspect, Umar Sanusi as he was riding a motorcycle with another suspect, Boniface Junior currently on the run.”
Explaining further, SP Nwabuzor noted that investigation reveals that the motorcycle, with Reg/NO GDE-222-VC was earlier robbed from its owner, Abdullahi Nufu at gunpoint at Back of Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State.”
“A search warrant executed on the premises of the suspect led to the recovery of the cut-to-size locally made pistol and ten (10) Android phones and the arrest of the three other suspects aforementioned”, he added
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edo Police Command, CP Mohammed .A. Dankwara, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a speedy investigation and prosecution of the case, he charges the relevant investigators and the surveillance unit of the Command to ensure that the fleeing suspect, Boniface Junior is arrested and brought to book as soon as possible.
