Fulani Militias Kill 21 People In Plateau Communities

There was tension in the Rim, Jol and Kwi communities of Riyom Local Government Area and Gana-Ropp community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

NIGERIACRIME learnt that one of the victims of the attack is a clergyman.

Several others also sustained various degrees of injuries when a suspected Fulani militia launched an attack on Sunday night.

There are indications that the attack is a retaliation of the killing of two herders that were shot dead in Fas community of Riyom LGA on Sunday evening.

The incident was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alabo Alfred.

Alfred told newsmen that the security personnel were on top of the situation.

He said, “the two Fulani were killed first while the second attacks were launched later in the night.

“The commissioner of police has visited the scene of the incident. We are investigating the cause of the attack.”

The communities were invaded by the gunmen when the residents of the affected communities were sleeping.

The National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Movement, Rwang Tengwong, who also confirmed the incident said, “Two persons were killed in Rim village of Riyom Local Government Area, seven killed in Jol, eleven in Kwi, while a clergyman, Reverend Nichodemus Kim was killed in Gana-Ropp, Barkin Ladi LGA.”

He called on the federal and the state governments to come up with new strategies to address the security situation in the country, particularly in Plateau State.

In another news, a fatal road crash has claimed the life of Alhaji Faruq Umar, a Federal Commissioner in the Code of Conduct Bureau representing the North East Region.

The deceased was involved in the accident in the early hours of Sunday along Jakusko-Gashu’a highway while returning after a condolence visit to Jakusko town.

Yobe State Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana was among the top government functionaries who attended the funeral prayer of the deceased.

The prayer led by the former Special Adviser to Governor Buni on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Mallan Kyari, was conducted at the state low-cost in Gashu’a town, the headquarters of Bade local government area of the state.

The Deputy Governor Gubana thereafter condoled the family of the deceased and the good people of Bade Local Government Area over the great loss.
