A train station situated in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State has been attacked by yet-to-be- identified gunmen.
According to reports obtained by NIGERIACRIME, the gunmen, who are suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, abducted an unspecified number of passengers from a train station.
The development was made known by the Edo State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor.
Nwabuzor confirmed that the gunmen seized a yet to be confirmed number of passengers while also adding that several other persons were injured during the unfortunate attack.

He told newsmen, in a statement, that the victims were waiting to board a train to Warri in Delta State when the assailants invaded the station shooting sporadically.
The statement read, “This is to inform the gentlemen of the press that today, 7th of January, 2023 at about 1600hrs, unspecified number of herdsmen armed with AK 47 riffles attacked the train station at Igueben, Edo State and kidnapped unspecified number of passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri.
“The kidnappers who shot sporadically into the air before kidnapping some passengers left some persons with bullet wounds. The Area Commander Irrua, DPO Igueben Division, and men have visited the scene of crime with members of the Edo State Security Network, local vigilantes, and hunters with a view to protecting the lives and property of the remaining passengers.”
This is coming barely a year after terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents attacked an Abuja-Kaduna-bound train, abducting several passengers.
