Gunmen kill one, abduct another, demand N20m ransom

One person has been reportedly killed, while another was kidnapped as Gunmen on Sunday invaded Orie in their large numbers in Agbedo community of Igalamela/Odolu council area of Kogi State.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that kidnappers afterward demanded N20 Million ransom.

It was gathered that the gunmen in their large numbers stormed the market on Sunday at 2 pm and started shooting sporadically to scare the people in the market.

The development caused pandemonium in the market as one Johnson was hit by the bullets and died in the process.

One other person was said to have been abducted and whisked to an unknown place.

Meanwhile, the family members of the abducted have been contacted and demand of N20 million ransom for the release of the abducted person has been made.

NigeriaCrime.comreliably gathered that the incident was the third time in a row when suspected gunmen would attack the market and abduct people and later ransom demands.

Investigations further revealed that the suspected hoodlums were taking advantage of the thick Apayan forest in the local government area which shared boundaries with Enugu and Anambra States to perpetrate their evil acts.

Sources further revealed that the people of Agbedo community in Apayain district of Igalamela/Odolu Local government area of Kogi State have continued to Appeal to the State government and security agencies in the state to come to their aid from the incessant attacks on the defenseless people on market days in the area.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya however stated that it was a case of invasion. He said one Johnson’s shop was attacked and the owner killed, while one other victim identified as Edwin was abducted.

He however said, “The state Police command has mobilised officers to fish out the hoodlums and rescued the kidnapped person without hurt.”
