Neighbours and passersby were seen assisting the store owners to remove their wares from the three shops to save them from the fire.

A resident simply identified as Bukola stated that “A girl lit a stick of matches when another neighbour was using cooking gas. There was a little explosion in the apartment before the shops in front of the house were gutted.

“My phone was destroyed in the fire. Residents had to move in to help shop owners pack their wares.”

A business owner in the area, Mide, said, “It’s difficult to say what caused the fire. When locals heard a noise, the majority of them came to help store owners put out the fire. People who live in the flat where the fire started may know the cause.

“One of the three shop owners sells agricultural food. It took a long time for residents to save them from burning. One of the damaged shops damaged belongs to a resident who uses it for phone charging.”
