Kogi Central: Gov Bello Offered N70m For Me To Step Down – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Senator-elect of Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of offering her up to N70 million to step down for his anointed candidate.

The Peoples Democratic Party member stated this on Wednesday morning, adding that Bello offered her the money personally.

She, however, revealed that she rejected the governor’s offer because she was not in the race for money but to make an impact on the people.

She said the Kogi helmsman had initially offered her N50 million to step down for his anointed candidate.

“In 2018, before I joined the SDP, I was in the APC for pretty much.

“The Governor called on me along with nine other aspirants at that point to step down.

“He offered some people money. He offered me money as well. He offered me N50 million at first, I turned it down. He then said ‘How about N70m?’ to stand down for his anointed candidate who was then a Senator.

“I told him I wasn’t in the race for money. It was not for personal aggrandisement, but to make an impact on my people. And that annoyed him.

“Yahaya Bello does not like to be dared. He wants his words to be law.”

The recent back and forth was reignited by the Court of Appeal judgment, which made Governor Bello congratulate the Senator-elect on Tuesday.

NIGERIACRIME had earlier reported that while responding to Bello on Tuesday night, Akpoti-Uduaghan, alleged that the governor at a point attempted to kill her.

“I heard guns; I had his henchmen shoot at my vehicle; I have video evidence of that.

“It was the immediate past; they were adorned in APC shirts and one of them was Amoka; he was actually the returning officer for Okehi local government. He led the group of ten men to shoot at me; I have the video captured in that,” the Senator-elect said.
