Kwara Farmers, Fulani Clash, One Killed

There was tension in Rogu Village in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara state as farmers and Fulani herders clash in the area.

It was gathered that a farmer’s life was lost during the bloody clash, which now led to the invasion of the Fulani camp in the village by aggrieved farmers in the community.

The invasion was sequel to a crisis which ensued between farmers and Fulani herders in the village.

NIGERIACRIME gathered that the angry farmers, who were seeking revenge, set properties of the Fulani herders ablaze, including multiple motorcycles.

However, Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi 11, has waded into the crisis calling on his people to calm down and maintain peace in the area.

Furthermore, he said that nobody will be hurt by his people anymore, assuring the Fulani of their safety in the area.

It was also learnt that normalcy has been restored.

The Chairman, Kwara state branch of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, GAFDAN, Ali Muhammed Jounwuro, in his reaction in Ilorin on Saturday expressed grave concern that at least 103 houses of innocent Fulani persons were burnt.

He queried why the aggrieved people should take the laws into their hands if they suspected some people doing the wrong things.

“The Fulani camp is more than 40 years old at Rogu within Patigi LGA. They have been law abiding citizens for the period of 40 years without harming anybody,” the chairman added.

He called on the Kwara State Government to take proper action on the matter to avoid escalation of the crisis.
