Lagos communities boil as hoodlums go on rampage

Sequel the cash scarcity being experienced many communities in Lagos is currently submerged in crisis as hoodlums and vandals go on rampage in Mile 12, Ojota, Ikorodu garage, Igando, Iyana Iba, Ojo, and Agege in Lagos

The chaos started early on Friday morning while people were going to their work and business places.

It was gathered that gunshots rented the air forcing people to scamper for safety as hoodlums and vandals were seen destroying ATMs and any government vehicle in sight.

When nigeriacrime.com got to the scene, Some of the areas in Ikorodu Sabo area has been blocked by boys and tyres were burnt on the road. While in Ogolonto, there were heavily armed policemen and over 200 thugs. The atmosphere Is very tense and it is about to go down.

According to Dapp Bidemi who witnessed the chaos in ikorodu on Friday morning, I am currently in Ikorodu garage. I had to cancel taking my kids to school this morning. The whole of that axis is red hot now. Vandals are everywhere, destroying ATMs and any government vehicle in sight.”

Another resident in the area of Sabo ikorodu said on my way to work this morning, we were asked to turn back. From Irawo before getting to Mile 12 the riot is still on. I just drove passed it feels like war, people are trekking. Everywhere is chaotic.”

It was also reliably gathered that there was a breakdown of law and order at the Igando to Iyana Iba, ojo axis of Lagos, this morning as transport unions on rampage.

Reacting to the ongoing crisis, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin said It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed. There is free movement of vehicles and people fully restored. Our officers and men are still on ground to prevent any breakdown of law and order. If you see something, say something.
