Hammed was brought before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court in the state on Thursday.

He reportedly committed the offence on April 8 at about 9 pm at No 25, Olaniyi Str., Agiliti, Mile 12, Lagos State.

The defendant, who is in court for assault, pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Donjor Perezi, alleged that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Mrs Josephine Durodola, when she demanded money from him for payment of an electricity bill.

He told the court that the defendant hit the complainant’s head against an iron gate which caused her great pain, and she was hospitalised.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 173 stipulates three years jail term for a convicted offender.

In another news, three persons were feared killed in a clash that occurred between two rival cult groups in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the clash occurred around 9pm.

The cause of the clash is, however, still unknown as of the time of filing this report.

The state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who confirmed the clash said his men succeeded in bringing the situation under control.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said the command was informed about the incident but its men could not locate the affected area as residents could not help the police with useful information.

“Our men are currently on patrol within Owo. I spoke with the Area Commander and the DPO, and no one in the town is ready to report or even assist with information. However, the anti-cultism men have been deployed in the town,” the PPRO said.
