Middle-aged woman drowns in Lagos

A middle-aged woman identified as Nimotalahi Ishola Folashade has reportedly taken her life in Lagos.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that Folashade boarded a boat on Saturday, March 9 from Isuti jetty, Isuti Road, in Igando area of Lagos going to Totowu Ogun state with other eleven passengers on board

However, trouble started, when she suddenly removed the life jacket she was wearing and jumped into the river.

Unfortunately, before local divers could arrive at the scene and rescue her, she drowned.

According to one of the passengers names withheld who was on board the boat, “the woman left behind a nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards and some drugs.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said: “Today being 10/03/2024 at about 8:am one Rasaq reported at Igando Division that on 9th March at about 9 PM Nimotalahi Ishola Folashade ‘address yet unknown, boarded a boat from their Isuti jetty Isuti Road, Igando Lagos going to Totowu Ogun State with other passengers on board.
She suddenly removed her life jacket and jumped into the river.

Explaining further Hundeyin said: “The scene of the incident was visited by detectives of the division.”

“Search party has been contacted to recover the corpse. The investigation is ongoing and effort is on to contact her family.”

In a related development an 80-year-old man, Isiaka Ayinde took his life at his residence located at Watchtower Street Araromi in Imota area of Lagos.

According to Mustapha, the landlord of the building where the incident occurred, at about 7:30 pm on 7th March, I was inside the house when I heard my children shouting.”

“They said I should come and see Baba in the kitchen. when I ran into the kitchen, I saw the lifeless body of one of my tenants hanging on a rope that was tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows in the kitchen”, he added.

It was gathered that the scene had been visited by policemen attached to the Imota divisions police.

However, the family of the deceased choose to bury the corpse immediately as a result of his age and religious inclination of the deceased
