NLDEA Dismantles Drug Factory In Ogun, Arrests Suspect

As part of the war against the selling and use of illicit drugs in the country, Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State, have dismantled a drug factory.

According to information available to NIGERIACRIME, the operatives also arrested a suspect, Adekunle Adekola, at the facility situated around Ajaka in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The development was conveyed by the state Commander of the NDLEA, Ibiba Odili, in a statement late Saturday.

The officials busted the factory on Thursday and seized skuchies, cannabis sativa and codeine, among others, Odili told newsmen in the state.

Skuchies is a concoction of different drugs.

However, the NDLEA commander said the principal suspect, a notorious drug dealer, one Abiodun, popularly called Iya Tobi, escaped.

Odili said, “Exhibits seized at the factory during the operation included 124 gallons of five litres of skuchies, 306 gallons of three litres of skuchies, 10kg of cannabis sativa, 20 litres of cough syrup with codeine, seven deep freezers, two gas cylinders, one industrial cooker, four stabilisers, one generator and one sound system with a speaker.”

Meanwhile, a man in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Ishaq, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing a commercial tricycle, better known as Keke NAPEP.

The 22-year-old Ishaq, a resident of Geriyo, a community in Yola North Local Government Area, was arrested after he allegedly took the Keke NAPEP from the premises of a Mosque at Gate 4, one of the entry gates to the Jimeta Modern Market, Yola.

A spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development Saturday afternoon to Daily Post, adding that the suspect removed the Keke NAPEP from where the owner parked it and joined other worshipers observing prayers at the Mosque.

“The suspect was arrested within Jimeta and investigation has revealed that he took the tricycle from around the Gate 4 Mosque when worshipers were observing their prayers,” Nguroje said.

Stealing of Keke NAPEP around the Jimeta Modern Market appears to be a growing trend.

A month back, on June 7, a 25-year-old Suleiman Auwal was apprehended for allegedly stealing such a vehicle from the market and taking it to nearby Jambutu where he, foolishly, began to carry passengers, leading to his arrest a few days later by the police.

The Police had said at the time that, as in the latest case, the suspect took the Keke NAPEP from a mosque, in that particular case the main Jumat Mosque in the expansive Jimeta Modern Market complex.
