Osun Amotekun Arrests Hoodlums, Firearm Recovered

Two suspected hoodlums have been arrested by men of the Osun State Western Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, for their incessant attacks on inhabitants of Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo, the state capital.

Their arrest was revealed by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi on Wednesday.

The Commander identified the suspects as 27-year-old Afeez Olaniyan and 23-year-old Ismail Wahab, whose arrest was effected following a tip-off by residents of the area.

Additionally, Adewinmbi disclosed that the suspects were also in possession of a locally-made pistol.

He noted that the suspected hoodlums had terrorised the residents of Ita-Olokan area, Osogbo, and its environs over time.

He said, “The suspected hoodlums were arrested on Wednesday after receiving a distress call from the residents of the area on the activities of the suspects unleashing attack on the residents of Ita-Olokan Osogbo and it’s environs.

“Our operatives swung into action instantly after the complaint was made and the culprits was arrested and a locally made pistol gun was found on them at the time of their arrest.

“Upon Investigation, they confessed to committing the act and using the firearm to protect themselves.”

Adewinmbi added that the suspects have been handed over to the police for subsequent investigation and interrogation

Similarly, the corps arrested a 37-year-old hoodlum who is accused of making life uncomfortable for the people of Ikoyi-Ile Town in Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State.

The Commander said the attacker mostly operate alone and routinely target residents of the town with cutlass and charms.

During interrogation, he admitted to acting in an unruly manner and causing unrest in the community. He pleaded for forgiveness.

The suspect has been handed over to the police command in Osun for further investigation and possible prosecution.
