Plateau Pastor, Two Sons Killed By Gunmen

A pastor, Reverend Musa Hyok, has been killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the Ganawuri community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Hyok, who was a priest of the Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN), was murdered alongside his two sons on Sunday morning.

Confirming the incident to the press on Monday, the Plateau Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo, said “the command has commenced an investigation to unravel those behind the attack”.

The Youth Leader of the community, Mr Song Moro, alleged that the incident, which he described as sad, was a reprisal attack after the killing of three Fulani youths in the community.

Moro said,” Trouble started when some suspected Fulani kidnappers were arrested last Wednesday, which is our market day but later escaped in the hands of Fulani Vigilante who were to keep them before the arrival of security operatives.

“The situation degenerated into an argument and later escalated to a clash leading to the death of three Fulani youths despite several meetings and appeals for calm.

“We suspect that the situation led to this attack on an innocent family that knows nothing about last Wednesday’s incident.”

Meanwhile, a fire outbreak has razed down three communities in Kiyawa Local Government area of Jigawa State.

A resident revealed that the affected communities include: Malamawa, Karangiya and Kwalele.

He said the inferno destroyed properties and rendered hundreds of families homeless.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense corpse Jigawa State Command, CSC. Adamu Shehu.

He said the fire incident occurred on Sunday at about 1:00pm at Malamawa Dangoli village, Kiyawa local government.

He said, “the fire started at about 1:00pm and lasted for more than 2hrs before it was brought under control through the combine efforts of security personnel and the residents”

Adamu said no human life was lost but some people were affected by the smoke and were rushed to Kiyawa LGA hospital for proper medical care.
