Police Declare Canada-Based Nigerian Wanted Over Cyberbullying, Impersonation

A Canada-based Nigerian, Rachael Eboni Osazee Iyonmana, has been declared wanted by the Edo State Police Command over cyberbullying.

It was gathered that the lady was reported to the authorities by the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Edo, Festus Alenkhe, who alleged that she was stalking and defaming his character.

The accused, who is also answering for impersonation, has a N5million bounty on her.

Confirming this development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Chidi Nwabuzor said she was declared wanted after a petition to the Commissioner of Police on January 11.

He said after the petition, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force CID Annex in Ikoyi, Lagos, was informed, intelligence revealed the suspect was in Canada.

According to the report, multiple Facebook accounts bearing the name and photographs of the petitioner were created to defame his personality.

It was later discovered that the act was perpetrated by Rachael.

“The suspect used the internet to bully and defame his character…Facebook accounts created by Rachael were not the handiwork of the complainant,” Nwabuzor said.

The spokesperson urged anyone with information to contact the CP, PPRO, or the Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit.

The police are working with the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, to arrest the suspect any time she’s seen in Nigeria.
