Six Dead As Fire Guts Building, Patrol Vehicle In Lagos

No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead as fire gutted a building suspected to be occupied by a bank and a vehicle belonging to the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos State.

The outbreak started in the early hour of today at the Adeola Odeku area of Victoria Island, Lagos

In a tweet on its verified Twitter handle, RRS confirmed the incident saying, “RRS vehicle on patrol of Adeola Odeku was this morning involved in a fire incident.

“Although lives were lost in the incident but our officers escaped with injuries.

“While we pray for the repose of the souls of those whose lives were lost in the incident, we appreciate those who have been calling and sending messages to our Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.

“Thank you for your concerns.”

Other cars parked within the premises of the damaged building were also destroyed by the inferno.

Firefighters from the nearby Eko Hotel and Suites were chased away by bystanders who pelted them with stones.

Details of the outbreak is sketchy as of press time.
