Suspected Cultist Arrested In Delta, Pistol Recovered

An eighteen-year-old suspected cultist, Difference Sunday, has been arrested by men of the Delta State Command in Ekrerhawe, a community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed to newsmen by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

Sunday was nabbed by police operatives attached to Agbarho Police Station during a routine surveillance patrol.

The police operatives recovered a locally made, cut-to-size gun from the suspect, who lived in Isiokolo, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According Edafe, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of Eiye Confraternity; a blue beret with a symbol of Eiye Confraternity was also recovered from the suspect.”

Similarly, policemen attached to Ekpan Police Station have arrested two suspected armed robbers who have allegedly been terrorising Ekpan and its environs, especially the Refinery area in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta.

The suspects were arrested in a commercial tricycle close to Refinery Junction.

Edafe confirmed the report in a statement made available to newsmen.

According to him, “On June 1, 2023, at about 7:45 pm, policemen attached to Ekpan Police Station along Refinery Junction noticed a tricycle with two male occupants. The occupants, upon sighting the policemen, jumped from the tricycle and took to their heels.

“The policemen went after them, caught up with them, and arrested the two suspects. When the suspects were searched, one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, one cut-to-size double-barrel pistol, and two rounds of live cartridges were recovered from them.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects belong to the syndicate that has been terrorising Ekpan and its environs, especially the refinery road area.”

According to the police image maker in Delta State, the activities of the two suspects have allegedly caused panic in the area.
