The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected human trafficker, identified as Adebisi Muideen, for allegedly trafficking four teenage girls from Osun to Kano State.
It was learnt that the suspect was trafficking his victims via the Tripoli corridor in Libya.
However, three of the girls were said to have escaped when they got to Kano then linked up with their parents who reported the matter to the police.
The three survivors, according to report, have reunited with their parents in Osun State, while the whereabout of the fourth girl remains a mystery.
When interrogated by the police, the accused denied the allegations, stating that the girls willingly accepted to go to Libya for work.

“My brother who resides in Tripoli instructed me to get girls for him and send the girls to one man in Kano who will take them to Libya from Kano,” he said.
The suspect said when he got to the man’s house in Kano, he met so many girls that were being processed for the journey to Libya.
The Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrest.
According to her, “The suspect invited the young girls for a birthday party at a hotel in Ile-Ife and gave them food and drinks.
“After taking the food and drinks, the girls slept off and later woke up in Kano State en route to Tripoli, capital of Libya.”
Opalola disclosed that the case would be diligently investigated and charged to court at the completion of the investigation.
