The remains of a twelve-year-old teenager, and two adults (a male and female) have been recovered from the rubbles of a three-storey building that collapsed early on Friday morning at about 9:30 AM along Herbert Macaulay way, in Ebute Metta area in Lagos.
Although the cause of the collapse is unknown three adults were rescued alive by the emergency responders at the scene.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the Lagos Building Control Agency (LASBCA) had issued evacuation notices several times and all the original occupants had parked out before the incident.
The property according to the report had been sold out about four months ago.
Speaking to the development, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary Tn.he Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said: “Upon arrival at the incident scene, it was observed that a two-storey residential building with a penthouse collapsed.
The cause of the collapse is unknown. Three people are presently trapped under the rubbles while other occupants escaped when the building gave signs and sound.
Emergency responders at the incident scene are LASEMA, LASAMBUS, LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Team, Lagos State Fire Service, LASBCA, NEMA, Lagos Mainland LGA and the NPF.
Three adults were rescued alive and attended by LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care and LASAMBUS.
Three fatalities have been extracted from the rubble comprising of an adult male, adult female and one young female (12 years old).”
