Tension In Ondo As Football Coach Kills Ex-Lover

There was tension in the Oke-Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital as a football coach, identified as Bankole Oginni, allegedly killed his 45-year-old ex-lover.

The suspect, aged 45 has been apprehended by officers of the Ondo State Police Command.

According to reports made available to NIGERIACRIME, Oginni committed the heinous crime at his residence.

The suspect was alleged to have lured his victim to his house after inviting her over on the phone.

According to a source, Oginni was caught red-handed when the deceased was traced to his house after she failed to return home after visiting him on Saturday.

Speaking on the situation, the distraught daughter of the deceased, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that she decided to pay a visit to Oginni’s residence to check on her mother’s whereabouts after she could not reach her on the phone.

She disclosed that she met a horrifying sight upon entering the suspect’s living room, where her mother’s lifeless body was found tied with a rope.

The victim’s daughter also revealed that her mother’s stomach had been brutally ripped open, and there were visible marks on her body that suggested scalds from hot water.

While confirming the incident, the Police spokesperson in the state, Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed that the suspect is already in custody, with the remains of the deceased deposited in the morgue.

In another news, police operatives attached to Dragon Patrol, during visibility and confidence-building patrol, recovered 250 rounds of live cartridges concealed in a bag along the Benin/Asaba Expressway at Iseele-Uku Community in Delta State.

The police also arrested a 46-year-old male suspect, Omoruyi Osemudiame, owner of the bag containing the live cartridges.

The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Wale Abass, confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

“On 3/8/2023 at about 1600hours, the police intercepted a commercial Sienna vehicle and subjected the passengers and their bags to a search.

“During the search, two hundred and fifty (250) rounds of live cartridges concealed in a bag were recovered.

“The owner of the bag Identified as Omoruyi Osemudiamen ‘m’ age 46yrs was arrested and taken into custody,” the statement read.

He added that investigation is ongoing.
