Three In Court For Stealing Company’s Property

Three criminal suspects were brought before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court, Ogba, Lagos State, over accusation of stealing a company’s property.

According to their charges, the suspects committed the offence on November 28, 2022, on the company premises at 196, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

The suspects, who conspired against the company include: Imeh Okon, Taiwo Kayode, and Stephen Eze.

They were accused of stealing fuel and iron rods worth N160,000 while also damaging the fuel pump of a vehicle belonging to the company.

The charges read in part, “That you, Imeh Okon, Taiwo John Kayode. Stephen Eze, on November 28, 2022, around 11.30am at 196, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit stealing.”

The prosecutor told the court that the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287, and 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Magistrate M.F. Onamusi adjourned the matter till January 9, 2023, for mention.

Meanwhile, more than 20 farmers were feared killed on Tuesday after a boat carrying about 100 farmers capsized in the Koko/Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The police spokesman for the state, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the accident and promised to release details later.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Koko/Besse LGA, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, also confirmed the accident.

He said it occurred on Tuesday night when a rickety boat carried more than 100 rice farmers to Samanaji, a riverine community in the area.

Bello noted that 80 of the boat passengers were rescued, while 10 were found dead and others still missing.

He assured that rescue operation was ongoing with a view to saving those still missing.
