Three suspected bandits arrested in Zamfara

Bandits arrested in Zamfara: Police operatives attached to the Zamfara Police Command have arrested three suspected bandits.

The suspects identified as Surajo Yahaya aged 35, and Bello Abubakar aged 70 were arrested together while 54-year-old Juli Mu a native of Kwashabawa village in Zurmi LAG was nabbed on 24th September 2022, operatives of the police tactical unit.

NigeriaCrime.com gathered that a Golf vehicle with Reg. No. Lagos Ej 556 LSD and 47 empty jericans of 25 litres which were recovered from the suspects were meant for taking fuel and conveying same to bandits at Dankurmi forest for their deadly operations.

According to SP Mohammed Shehu, Police Public Relations Officer on 25th September 2022 at about 1:am police tactical operatives while on midnight patrol within Gusau Metropolis, acted on intelligence information and trailed a Golf vehicle with Reg. No. Lagos Ej 556 LSD, and arrested the driver, Suraji.

“Yahaya entered a station located along Garejin Mailena – Wanke Road Gusau. The vehicle was loaded with empty Jericans and was received by the security guard of the filling station named Bello Abubakar which was meant for taking fuel and conveying same to bandits at Dankurmi forest for their deadly operations. A search was conducted at the filling station, leading to the recovery of 47 empty Jericans of 25 litres each. Also, 70 loaves of Bread and Ninety-two thousand Naira (N92, 000) were recovered.

It could be recalled that the Zamfara State Government in its recent security measures to curve banditry and other heinous crime, banned the sale of fuel in Jericans and large quantities.

“According to intelligence reports, Juli Mu is one of the notorious bandits terrorising innocent members of the public in Zurmi, B/Magaji and K/Namoda LGAs respectively.

Intelligence reports also revealed that the suspect has been into cattle rustling, receiving and selling of rustled animals in different parts of the state. A discreet investigation is in progress aimed at arresting his partners in crime and charge to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police while reassuring the public of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, appealed for continuous collaboration with the Police and other security agencies to rid the state of criminal activities.
