A surveillance speedboat belonging to Tantita, a company owned by the former Nigerian militant commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has been attacked by unknown gunmen.
The yet-to-be-identified gunmen made away with the boat’s 200 horsepower engine.
According to reports, the incident took place in Aleibiri community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
A source disclosed that the team manning the boat were attacked during their visit to Henry Azazi, the new Coordinator of Aleibiri Unit, who relieved Gen. Gowon Abenzi.
Azazi resumed work yesterday at the unit.

However, it was also reported that Azazi swung into action immediately after the incident, asking everyone to be calm, promising he would unravel the perpetrators of the attack and theft.
“Yes, it happened yesterday at Aleibiri, a neighbouring community in Bayelsa State. They made away with both the 200 HP engine and boat and we’ve launched a search operation to recover it.
“We know the perpetrators and we’ll recover it by any means necessary,” a source said.
Recall that Government Ekpenupolo, widely known as Tompolo, won a multi-billion contract to protect crude oil pipelines in the Niger Delta against oil thieves.
