Two Arrested In Kano For Arranging Same-sex Marriage

Two people have been arrested in Kano State by Hisba officials for allegedly trying to arrange same-sex marriage in the state.

The development was conveyed to newsmen in the state by Hisba Commandant, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa.

According to the Commandant, who spoke late Saturday, in a viral video, two young men named Khalifa and Abubakar were seen trying to kiss each other during a party, which is suspected to be their engagement party.

However, the suspects denied the allegation saying the event was not a wedding as claimed but a birthday party.

According to one of the suspects khalifa, he organised the party for his birthday and his friend Abubakar gave him a cake in his mouth and followed it to his mouth.

Daurawa said the two suspects are in their custody and an investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the killing of two hoodlums in Jalingo, the state capital.

The hoodlums, which the command said numbered 40, were said to have launched attacks on a warehouse belonging to one Jugulde in the early hours of Saturday.

Apart from the warehouse, several shops, and offices were also confirmed to have been attacked by the rampaging hoodlums.

Among stores and offices observed to have been attacked by them include the office of the Rock FM radio station, which is located along Mallam Joda Road in Jalingo metropolis.

The office of the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria, Taraba State chapter, was also observed to have not been spared by the hoodlums who claimed their actions were tied to the apron string of the present economic predicament caused by the removal of petrol subsidy.

Confirming the report, the command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abdullahi Usman, said a distress call was received by the command at about 12.a.m today that some hoodlums were going about breaking warehouses and stores in the state capital.

“However, before the police could reach the scene of the incident, two of the hoodlums had been killed by soldiers who arrived there before the police,” he said.

Also confirming that two of the hoodlums were arrested by the police and are presently cooling off their heels at the command’s headquarters, he said the corpses of the killed hoodlums have been taken to the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Jalingo for autopsy.

According to the PPRO, the attackers were armed with weapons such as guns, iron rods, cutlasses and broke into the warehouse and made away with several goods.

He said food items, computers, electronics, chemicals and paint were stolen by the hoodlums.
