Two Nigerians Arrested In India Over Cocaine Capsules

The police in India have arrested two Nigerian nationals at the Mumbai airport in India for concealing 167 capsules of cocaine in their stomach.

NIGERIACRIME learnt that officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence told newsmen in India on Tuesday that the two passengers were nabbed by the police on Friday after arriving at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport from Lagos via Addis Ababa.

It was gathered that the suspects were taken to court by DRI officials to pray that they get examined by a doctor to ascertain if they were hiding drugs in their bodies.

The medical examination conducted by the doctor confirmed that the two Nigerians were hiding cocaine in their stomachs and that they purged 167 capsules over three days.

Speaking on the development, the DRI official disclosed that the capsules contained a total of 2.97 kg of cocaine worth Rs 29.76 crore and the two were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, a court remanded them in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle area of Lagos State, was gutted by fire, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The cause of the fire is still unknown as of the filing of this report.

According to reports, the fire started around 3:am on Wednesday morning.

“This is Akere market in Ajegunle, where they sell spare parts. Akere Market in Olodi Apapa Ajegunle is currently on fire. The fire started about 3am this morning.”
