Two Rescued As Lagos Police Uncover Kidnappers’ Den

Two kidnap victims have been rescued by combatants of the Lagos State Police Command during the raid of a den of kidnappers in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Thursday night.

This development was conveyed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state SP Benjamin Hudenyin, on Friday.

The police image maker disclosed that there was a crossfire between operatives of the command and the kidnappers but added that the Police is on top of the situation.

“Yes, the incident is true; the Police are on top of the situation, and the tension has been calmed. Two kidnapped victims were rescued at the scene,” he said.

Similarly, police personnel, on Tuesday, arrested four suspected kidnappers in Dutsen Maigoshi community of Tafawa Balewa local government area of the State.

The Police operatives also rescued two kidnap victims, namely Mohammed Jungudu and Maimuna Muhammadu, from the kidnappers’ den.

The spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the breakthrough to journalists in a statement in Bauchi on Thursday.

“On the 04th of April, 2023 at about 0915hrs information at the Command disposal indicated that a group of persons numbering about seven (7) suspected to be kidnappers were sighted between Dass and Tafawa Balewa at Dutsen Maigoshi.

“On receiving the information, a team of a Joint Task Force led by DPO swiftly swung into action at the scene, on sighting the Police they engaged in gun duel. The police smoked the area and successfully rescued two victims namely;
Mohammed Jungudo and Maimuna Mohammadu, all of Tafawa Balewa unhurt.

“During interrogation, the rescued victims recognized and identified four (4) of the kidnappers as the following persons: Korau Buba aged 56yrs; Sulaiman Adamu aged 33yrs; Haladu Abdullahi aged 35yrs and Ibrahim Adamu aged 20yrs.

“Consequently, a team of operatives were quickly drafted and hunted down the above-mentioned underworld group who confessed to having committed the crime,” the statement reads in part.

He said further investigation was ongoing, adding that the suspects will be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law after.
