Unidentified Jet bombs villagers in Niger state

Several villagers have been killed in Akere town in Wushishi local government area of Niger state when a yet to be identified Jet invaded and bombed the community on Tuesday evening.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that apart from the victims who lost their lives, several others were injured in the attack.

It was learned that while the Akere bombing was ongoing, over 100 bandits who invaded some communities in the same local government killed five persons.

Several others were also injured while scores were abducted with about 150 Cattle rustled.

A resident in the village said on seeing the Jet hovering around the Communities, the villagers fled in different directions while many were hit by the bombing as they fled while those also taking refuge under different trees were also hit and died immediately.

It will be recalled that a similar incident occurred in Galadimakogo town in Shiroro local government area of the state a month ago during which no fewer than 20 local hunters were bombed.

“The casualties are many but we don’t know the exact figure for now. We cannot also identify the Jet whether it is government owned or belong to the bandits.
“Government should be able to give details about that later,” the source remarked.

It was also gathered that no fewer than 50 gunmen stormed Kwazi community in Rafi local government area of the state during which five people including a six-month pregnant woman were killed and about 150 cattle stolen by the gunmen.

Similarly, three other villagers were killed and 15 others abducted in Dandaudu community in Munya local government area of the state on the same day while several others sustained injuries from gunshots.

Two women were among those who were shot while many Cattle were also stolen.

In Bosso local government area, three people were also said to have been abducted by gunmen in Beji town of Bosso local government area of the state

Our Correspondent learnt that the gunmen stormed the town around 1 am yesterday and started shooting sporadically to scare the residents and went from house to house for about two hours.

The operation it was reliably gathered occurred behind Beji General Hospital.

Those abducted including a woman and her two daughters were immediately led to an unknown destination.

As at the time of going to Press, the bandits have not opened up contacts with the government or families of those abducted for ransom.

The state Police Command Spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun could not be reached to confirm the incidents as his lines were switched off.

However, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian, Emmanuel Umar when contacted on phone did not confirm or deny the Akere incident.

On the Rafi and other invasions, he said the government was yet to ascertain the real number of casualties.

“We cannot give the exact number of casualties of Rafi and other incidents but what I can assure you is that the state government is not resting on its oars to rid the state of all forms of criminality.
