Weapons Recovered As Police Arrest 61 Thugs At APC Kano Rally

No fewer than 61 suspected political thugs were arrested in Kano State on Wednesday as the ruling All Progressives Congress held its mega presidential campaign rally in the state.

This was made known disclosed by the Kano State Police Command in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa

The spokesperson said the political thugs were arrested a few hours after the party’s campaign.

According to the PPRO, the command is following the strict order issued by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali-Baba, declaring war on political thugs to ensure peaceful election process in the coming months.

He said, “The suspects were arrested on Jan. 4, during political campaign clearance operations conducted during a political activity at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.”

33 knives, eight cutlasses, four scissors, a parcel and 117 wraps of suspected Indian hemp were parts of the items recovered from the hoodlums, the PPRO said.

Other items include three bottles of Suck and Die, 500 Exol Tablets and bunch of charms.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command has repelled a terrorist attack at Karfi village in Malumfashi Local Government Area of the State.

While countering the attack, the command succeeded in neutralising one of the terrorists and rescued a kidnapped victim unhurt.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, after the command received a distress call suggesting that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, invaded the house of one Kabir Sule, M, aged 37years, within Karfi village, Malumfashi LGA of the state.

According to the information obtained, the assailants abducted Sule after their raid.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Malumfashi, led a combine team of policemen and vigilante to the area where the team engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.

Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah in a statement on Thursday stated that, search parties are still combing the area with hopes to arrest some of the gunmen who fled with various injuries, as well as the recovery of bodies of some of the assailants who might have died from their wounds.
