Weapons Recovered As Police Nab Three Teenagers, Eight Others For Thuggery

No fewer than 11 people were arrested for thuggery on Kobi Street, Fada roundabout and Danjuma Goje area of Bauchi State.

It was learnt that the suspects, who were apprehended by the police in Bauchi on Tuesday for alleged criminal conspiracy, thug and thuggery and being in possession of dangerous weapons, included three teenagers.

This follows the completion and declaration of results of last Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, identified the suspects as Uzaifa Abubakar (Damo,18); Abdulmalik Hussaini (Biri, 18); Abdulmalik Suleiman (Bluetooth, 21); Usman Isyaku (Kanzo, 20); Naziru Mohammed (Binju, 18) as well as Mubarak Yahaya (18).

Others are Alyusha’u Sanusi (25); Ahmad Usman (28); Mubaraq Nasiru (16); Idriss Dauda (22) and Khalifa Adamu (20).

Wakil stated that the arrest was sequel to the earlier warning issued by the police command against all forms of celebrations and rallies by political party supporters for or against winners/losers of the just concluded elections.

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), 30 assorted dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspected thugs who were arrested while disturbing public peace and order on Kobi Street, Fada roundabout and Danjuma Goje area of Bauchi metropolis.

In another development, the PPRO informed that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, on Tuesday met with the community engagement stakeholders/ward heads in Bauchi metropolis.

“The meeting was prompted following reported armed robbery and disturbance of public peace in some areas within the Bauchi metropolitan,” Wakil stated, adding that it was also to enhance community participation in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
