A woman, identified as Oluwafunmilayo Brioluwa has been remanded to the Kirikiri correctional facility for allegedly assaulting an officer of the Lagos State Police Command.

It was gathered that the defendant committed the crime in the Ogombo part of the state on May 14, 2023.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a terse statement he posted on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday made this known.

Sharing the image of the defendant while assaulting the officer, the police image maker said, “Somewhere in Ogombo yesterday, she assaulted a police officer. She was arraigned today and has been remanded to the Kirikiri correctional facility till June 6 when the case come up again in court”.

Hundeyin has, however, come under fire since he posted the information.

A Twitter user, @LawrenceOkoroPG, while replying the PPRO said, “@BenHundeyin do you know you can be charged for this? Posting a picture, revealing someone’s nude. You clearly posting a picture of her breast on display. Police no really get sense.
Rubbish!”

Another tweep with the username, @191Introvert queried the PPRO  on why the defendant was not granted bailed.

“Lol many many like that in prison on awaiting trial and moreover why was she not granted bail ? Oh I forgot she didn’t have money to get a lawyer aby and our so called government can’t provide her with one ?? Same offense one person committed and was granted bail but she suffering a different fate uhmmm is well.”

Recall that Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, was on Tuesday granted bail by a Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos.

The court also ordered police to finish their investigation into the alleged assault of a policeman within 48 hours.

NIGERIACRIME reported that the son of the legendary Fela Kuti was arrested for slapping an officer after his vehicle was stopped on Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.
