2 gun runners conveying arms to terrorists killed in Zamfara

Following an extensive gun battle along Gunmi -Anka Road, while conveying arms to terrorists camp in Zamfara from Taraba State two gun runners were neutralised.

NigeriaCrime.com gathered that, on January 7th, 2023, Police Tactical Operatives attached to the Zamfara Police Command neutralised the duo while conveying sophisticated arms and ammunition to terrorists camp in Zamfara from Taraba state.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of the Command, SP Mohammed Shehu said that items recovered included a Toyota Corolla Vehicle containing 3 live shells for rockets RPG, 3 explosive shells,151 rounds of live ammunition for Anti Aircraft Rifle (AA) and some assorted charms.

He explained that “the feat was recorded following an Intelligence Information received about the movement of the suspects inside a Toyota Corolla Vehicle containing the above mentioned exhibits from Taraba State en-route terrorist camp in Zamfara State.”

“Two of the suspects were fatally injured while others escaped to the bush with possible gunshot wounds. Injured suspects were taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, and later confirmed dead by the Doctor while on admission.”

“Spot search by the operatives led to the recovery of the above mentioned exhibits. Additional Joint/Vigilant operatives were deployed to the location for rigorous confidence building patrol aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspects.”

“The Commissioner of Police CP Kolo Yusuf, assures Police continuous commitment to rid the state of terrorist and other criminal activities for safety, security and peace of Zamfara state,” he said.

Meanwhile, efforts to rid the North West of bandits and terrorist elements is yielding massive result as troops have neutralised four armed bandits in two separate fire-fights in Kaduna between Sunday and Tuesday, January 2023.

Confirming the killing of the bandits, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami said, “Troops of Operation Forest Sanity on 1 and 2 January 2023 received a distress call of bandits attack at Rafin Sarki village in Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Troops responded swiftly and engaged the terrorist in a firefight. Troops neutralised two terrorists and recovered one AK 47 rifle.

“Equally, on 3 January 2023, troops carried out an ambush operation at Rafin Taba village, Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State and made contact with terrorists.

“Troops engaged the terrorists and neutralised two terrorists.

“Troops also recovered two AK 47 rifles, four AK 47 magazines, Fifty (51) 7.62mm special ammunitions, five mobile phones, one cutlass, two motorcycles and a sum of Two Hundred and Six Thousand naira (206,000).

“The military high command commends troops of Operation Forest Sanity and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities.”
