3 Bandits killed in Zamfara as troops recover arms, ammunition

Three bandits have been reportedly killed while many escaped with injuries following an ambush operation on scores of the criminal elements who were trying to invade some communities in Zamfara state.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the bandits were killed by military troops deployed to fight against armed bandits and terrorists in Zamfara state.

Confirming the operations, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major Gen Musa Danmadami said, “Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji on Sunday 30 April 2023 conducted ambush operation to the bandits crossing point at Anka, a point leading to Dan Kampani in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“Troops made contact with bandits and following a firefight, neutralised three (3) terrorists.

“Items recovered are; one (1) PKT gun with forty-eight (48) rounds of 7.62mm by 54 ammunition, three (3) AK 47 rifles, three (3) magazines with sixty-three (63) rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 3 motorcycles.

“The military high command commends troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorist and all criminal activities within their area.”

In a related development, the Nigerian Special Forces troops have again recorded another significant victory in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram terrorists as troops of ‘Operation Desert Sanity II’, ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, successfully recovered caches of weapons and ammunition from the insurgent’s hideouts in the Ukuba axis of Sambisa forest on Saturday, 29 April 2023.

It was gathered that the feats were recorded after the troops of 21-Armored Brigade, Bama, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and 199 Special Forces Battalion in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists while on aggressive fighting patrol.

This led to a heavy gunbattle with the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their vehicle, weapons and several IEDs materials with some armed

The sources said that the recovered items include; six anti-aircraft guns, four Ak 47 rifles, several quantities of IEDs-making materials, a cache of magazines, and a Hilux vehicle mounted with an Anti Aircraft Gun.

“So far the fighting troops had successfully cleared the terrorist’s hideouts in Garno, Alafa, Alafa D, Garin Doctor, Njumia, Izzah, Farisu, Somalia, Ukuba, Garin Glucose, Garin Ba’aba, Bula Abu Amir, communities in Bama Local Government Area in Borno state.

“This latest success underscores the continuing efforts of the Nigerian military to neutralize the Boko Haram threat and restore peace and stability to the region, the Source added.
