Bandits kidnap Pregnant Woman, Others In Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted a pregnant woman and seven others in Kaduna State, the victims were kidnapped during an attack by suspected bandits in Lema community, Mando opposite Nigerian Defence Academy  (NDA) in Kaduna State where they according to a native of Lema community, Danladi Musa the bandits invaded three houses in the community around 1:00 am on Sunday.

Explaining further, Musa said we were all afraid to step out of our houses because of the gunshots.”

” They came around 1:am and took away eight residents including a pregnant woman that came to visit her sick mother in the community. This is not the first time bandits would attack our community,” he said.

The attack is coming a few days after Ansaru terrorists engaged bandits in a gun duel in Birni-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The confrontation ensued when bandits numbering about 200 on motorcycles and wielding sophisticated weapons attacked Damari town in Kazage Ward in the eastern part of the local government.

It was gathered that before the bandits’ attack, the Ansaru terrorists were already in the town preaching to the locals to establish an Islamic state in the region where they would be in authority and also advising the locals to acquire arms to defend themselves against their enemies.

It will be recalled that the bandits usually came to attack and plunder the communities, killing and kidnapping for ransom and rustling cattle before retreating into the forests.

Confirming the attack Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Peoples Union, BEPU, said that on hearing the sporadic gunshots from the bandits, the Ansaru members moved toward them and started exchanging fire.

They clashed for about an hour. The Ansaru members who were also heavily armed overpowered the bandits who took to their heels” he said.

During the clash, there was some damage in the town. One shop, two vehicles, and one private hospital were burnt down. Two locals who were returning from their farms were also killed by the armed bandits who were running away to the  forest.” He said the private hospital got burnt by accident as a result of the fire that spread from the second vehicle being burnt nearby.
