A farmer, Toyin Ajakaiye, has been convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as okada rider, Afe Omoniyi.
According to reports gathered by NIGERIACRIME, the okada rider was killed in August 23, 2018 along Agbado/Ode Ekiti road.
Delivering the judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Olukayode Ogundana of an Ekiti State High Court, ruled that the prosecutor proved beyond reasonable doubt Omoniyi was killed by the convict.
According to court records, the defendant boarded the Omoniyi’s okada from Agbado-Ekiti to his farm along Ode-Ekiti road on the day the incident happened.

They duo had reportedly agreed on a transportation fare of N150.00 before the okada rider agreed to convey the convict.
On getting to the farm, the convict offered the Okada man #200.00 and demanded a N100.00 change to which the Okada man objected and gave him a N50.00 change.
A fight thereafter ensued and the convict strangulated the Okada man to death by tying a rope around his neck, he also dug a shallow grave and buried him.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, who prosecuted the case for the State, called 4 witnesses and tendered 7 exhibits to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The convict was represented by Omoniyi Idowu in court.
