A suspected kidnapper has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command at about 11 am on Thursday.
NIGERIACRIME learnt that men of the command also foiled an attempted kidnap by the suspect, who is also said to be an armed robber.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, revealed that while operatives of the Eagle-Net were on patrol along Oreorokpe-Sapele road, they intercepted a commercial minibus for a routine search.
He added that the operatives recovered a locally made single barrel gun with five live cartridges concealed in a bag found in possession of a 25-year-old man, identified as Diarhe Oghenemarho, during the search.
The suspect, who was subsequently taken into custody,reportedly resides in Okpara inland waterway community, Ethiope East Local Government Area.

Furthermore, Edafe, said the suspect confessed that he belongs to the notorious Eiye confraternity cult group and that his syndicate has been terrorising Warri and Ughelli axis, during preliminary investigation.
He told the police that his gang leader is one David Oghotomo Mathew also known as ‘Cucumber’, while also confessing to being a member of an armed robbery/kidnapping gang.
Edafe disclosed that the suspect and exhibits are presently in custody just as investigation is ongoing.
“In another development, on May 10, 2023, at 10.40 pm, while operatives of the ‘B’ Division Ughelli patrol team were on anti-crime patrol along Agbarha-Ughelli Road, they were reportedly overtaken in a suspicious manner by a Qlink motorcycle with Reg. no. SKL 554 VD with three male occupants.
“Members of the patrol team gave them a hot chase, during which the three men hurriedly abandoned the motorcycle and fled into the bush, leaving behind their motorcycle and a bag,” Edafe said.
The PPRO affirmed that when the operatives searched the bag, one pump action gun loaded with two live cartridges, and 49 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered along with the motorcycle.
He said an investigation was ongoing and efforts are in place to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
